The North Alabama Chapter of the United States Field Artillery Association (NAFAA) provides higher education benefits to individuals in the form of scholarships. The association will initially award up to 10 scholarships, at varying levels, with the maximum amount of $1000/year/student, based on funds availability. Scholarships will be for a one year period and proof of admittance to, or attendance at, an accredited university is required. The scholarship candidates must be a high school seniors or current college Freshman. Applicants should be relatives of current or former members or those with close ties to the association through active members or work in an Artillery related field OR a dependent of an Active Duty or Reserve Component soldier. Applicants will submit an academic transcript, a list of school and community activities and awards, and a brief essay on a choice of topics chosen by the scholarship committee. Each of these areas will be graded with the first two areas worth 20 points each and the essay worth 60 points. The selection/evaluation committee will consist of at least two current officers and two members at large. A blind evaluation of eligible application packets will be performed, and each applicant will be ranked according to their scores.
